Terms of Service

Welcome to ReelSwap. By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. What ReelSwap Is & Eligibility

ReelSwap is a community platform for collectors of physical media (VHS, Betamax, Laserdisc, CED, DVD, Blu-ray, HD-DVD, and 4K Ultra HD). The platform provides tools for archiving of physical media cover art, collection management, and community price guidance based on publicly available market data.

• Eligibility: You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and use this service. By agreeing to these Terms, you represent and warrant that you are of legal age to form a binding contract.

2. Your Account

You must provide accurate information when registering. You are responsible for all activity under your account and for keeping your credentials secure. One account per person. Do not share accounts or create multiple accounts.

3. Content You Upload & Intellectual Property

You may upload photos of physical media items in your collection. By uploading content, you grant ReelSwap a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, store, and process that content for the purpose of operating the platform (thumbnails, 3D previews, texture maps, search indexing). This license continues for content that remains on the platform after you remove an item or delete your account, as described below and in Section 7.

• Original Photography Required: All uploaded photos must be taken by you of the actual physical items you are photographing. Do not upload cover art, scans, marketing images, product photos, or any imagery obtained from third-party sources (Movie, TV, or media databases, retailer listings, fan sites, online resellers, eBay, Discogs, etc.). The Texture Archiver and ReelScan tools depend on first-hand photography to keep the community texture archive trustworthy.
• Your Content: You retain ownership of your original photos. You may permanently delete any photo at any time from your Item Details gallery. Photos also document the physical item for the community archive, so removing an item from your collection, or deleting your account, does not delete its photos. Delete them from the gallery first if you want them removed.
• Platform Assets: Texture maps and 3D-ready assets generated by the ReelSwap Texture Archiver and ReelScan tools (including UV maps, thumbnails, front-crop atlases, and all derived outputs) are the exclusive property of Generation Loss LLC. These community-contributed archive textures are permanent assets and are not deleted when individual items or accounts are removed.
• Platform IP: All other code, branding, logos, and features of the ReelSwap platform are the intellectual property of Generation Loss LLC.

Do not upload content you do not have the right to share, content that is illegal, content containing pornographic imagery or nudity, or content unrelated to physical media collecting.

4. Pricing Information

ReelSwap displays averages of the current average asking price of live fixed price eBay listings through a publicly available API. These values are provided for informational purposes only and do not constitute appraisals, guarantees of value, or financial advice. Actual sale prices may vary. ReelSwap makes no warranty regarding the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of pricing data.

5. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

• Scrape, crawl, or bulk-download data or images from the platform.
• Use automated scripts, bots, or tools to interact with the platform.
• Misrepresent item condition or manipulate pricing data.
• Harass, impersonate, or abuse other users.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts or admin functions.
• Upload pornographic, nude, or sexually explicit imagery.
• Upload imagery you did not personally take of the physical item (cover art, marketing images, scans, or photos from any third-party source).
• Use the platform for any illegal purpose.
• Redistribute or commercially exploit data, images, or content from the platform without permission.

6. Rate Limiting and Access

ReelSwap enforces rate limits on API usage to protect the platform and its users. Accounts that exceed rate limits may be temporarily or permanently restricted. Automated access, scraping, or abuse of API endpoints is prohibited and may result in immediate account termination.

7. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these terms or for any reason at our sole discretion. You may request deletion of your account at any time by following the instructions on our Account Deletion page, or by contacting us at [email protected]. Deletion is permanent.

• Removed: your account and profile information (email address, password, display name, bio, location, social links, avatar and banner images), your collection and want list, your share links, your follows, and your personal home-movie titles and their images. Your username is replaced with an anonymous placeholder.
• Kept, no longer associated with your name or email: photos you uploaded of items in your collection, scans and texture maps generated through the Texture Archiver or ReelScan, catalog entries and corrections you submitted, and grades and reactions you left on other members' items. Kept photos remain subject to the license in Section 3 and stay private unless you had made them public. Archive texture maps remain the property of Generation Loss LLC.

To have a specific photo permanently removed, delete it from your Item Details gallery before requesting account deletion.

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Generation Loss LLC, its members, managers, and affiliates from any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the platform, your violation of these Terms, or your interactions with other users.

9. Limitation of Liability

ReelSwap is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Generation Loss LLC and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or damages arising from disputes between users.

10. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any legal action or proceeding arising under these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in California, and the parties hereby consent to personal jurisdiction and venue therein.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the platform and may require you to re-accept the updated terms to continue using the service. Your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
