Juvenile programs like SPACE PATROL and TOM CORBETT - SPACE CADET, while enormously popular, were closer to motion picture serials with regard to plotting than science-fiction. TALES OF TOMORROW changed all of that. Each half-hour program in this extremely well made anthology series was based on a work by a recognized science-fiction author, and featured a well-known performer in the leading role. In addition to such established players as Boris Karloff, Lon Chaney, Thomas Mitchell • and Veronica Lake, TALES OF TOMORROW featured some of today's top stars in their appearances before the television cameras including Rod Steiger, Paul Newman and Leslie Neilson. Though THE TWILIGHT ZONE would follow many of the trails blazed by TALES OF TOMORROW, the integrity of the latter - coupled with the fact that TALES OF TOMORROW was telecast we without the luxury of film or video tape - makes for fascinating watching. Unseen for over a quarter of a century, the programs included on this cassette were transterrea from the only existing kinescope prints. Release date: 1953.
